About Ma

Sarah Emily Morrissey was born October 11, 1885 in New Milford, Connecticut to Irish immigrants Patrick and Bridget (Walsh) Morrissey.  She married George Decker on September 29th, 1909 and they had three surviving children: Josephine, Claire and Claude, better known as bud.  A son, George Leonard, passed when he was only a few days old.  In the early 1940's, the Deckers opened a bed and breakfast on their farm on Paper Mill Road and called it Edgewood Villa.  It was there that she recorded her life (and occasionally witnessed history) in her daily diaries, and created the world's greatest gingerbread cookie recipe which her great and great great grandchildren make every Thanksgiving.
